Montana has so much to offer. TradeScope visited Montana with a group of specialty grain and pulse buyers last week. Montana is now the largest producer of lentils and peas in the US, and they are building processing capacity quickly to accommodate this. There is strong demand in the Europe for beans, lentils, peas and chickpeas.
Sales are built on relationships, and the understanding of growing and processing practices. The Europeans met many farmers and processors in Montana, and concluded sales approaching $100k during the trip. More sales are very likely in coming weeks.
