It is always a pleasure to taste a rare single malt, Irish Pot Still whiskey or distinguished American bourbon – and there are certainly plenty of opportunities for producers of such fine wares to strut their marketing stuff in Europe in 2018.

In our opinion the best spirits shows are:
ProWein: Dusseldorf, 18–20 March 2018
The spirits component of this wine show has grown significantly over the last 5 years: the show now competes with Bar Convent (see below) as the strongest spirits trade show in Europe. International in focus. https://www.prowein.com/
Whiskey Live: London, 23–24 March 2018
Focus is on whiskeys from many different parts of the world, including some from US bourbon producers. http://www.whiskylive.com/events/england/london
Imbibe Live: London, 2–3 July 2018
This is the best spirits show in the UK. A strong presence of the leading UK spirits distributors and retailers. Mostly focused on those that want to sell into the UK market. http://live.imbibe.com/
Interwhisky: Frankfurt, 30 November–2 December 2018
This is small show but a good way for whiskey producers to access the German market. Focus is on whiskies (however you spell it – see below) rather than other spirits. http://www.interwhisky.com/
Bar Convent: Berlin, 8–10 October 2018
Bar Convent is one of the best German shows for beer and spirits. It has an excellent beer component "Brew Berlin". https://www.barconvent.com/
A note on the spelling of 'whiskey/whisky': The Irish spell it whiskey and the Scots spell it whisky. This difference in the spelling comes from the translations of the word from the Scottish and Irish Gaelic forms. 'Whiskey' is also used for American whiskies.
