It's that time of year again – TradeScope has organised a group of European dried fruit and nut buyers to tour producers in New Mexico, Arizona and California. We certainly have some heavy hitters on our early December trade mission, including the largest European snack company and one of the biggest retailers. In addition, we have snack manufacturers and packers for retail.
The US produces 75% of the world's pecans – we'll see the largest pecan grower and the largest pecan processor on the tour, among other fine pecan processors. The tour will give an extraordinary overview of just why the USA dominates pecan production. Calfornia is the land of abundance, representing 80% of the world's almond production, as well as huge walnut, pistachio, raisin and prune production. We will visit numerous dried fruit and nut processors and, for good measure, we land in Sacramento during the Almond Conference. This trade mission is a match made in the dried fruit and nut heartland of the USA.
