California almonds set new export records to Europe

2021 has been a bumper year for California almonds. According to an article in Fruitnet.com’s Fresh Produce Journal, "Almost all European markets also showed growth with Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy leading the way as overall European imports grew 18 per cent."

This was very much what we heard direct from the horse’s mouth during a recent virtual trade show that TradeScope facilitated between dried fruit and nut producers from the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA) and some key European buyers. It’s certainly good news for producers and for buyers. Happily, with our pan-European reach, bolstered by the recent addition of an Italian office, we were able to secure buyers for WUSATA’s members from all over Europe.

In fact, this recent event proved yet again the value of TradeScope’s policy of arranging trade mission s (even virtual ones) so that buyers and producers meet in person. Face-to-face is the way to go every time.
